School House on the Ridge

Rooted in Faith. Growing with Purpose.

Our Beginning

School House on the Ridge was founded with a heartfelt vision: to create a place where children could learn, grow, and thrive in a nurturing, faith-centered environment rooted in timeless values and rural simplicity.

What started as a shared dream among families seeking a more intentional and meaningful approach to education has become a vibrant learning community. Inspired by the land around us and guided by the belief that education should shape both the mind and the heart, our school was built to honor the rhythms of nature, the strength of family, and the importance of strong character.

From day one, we’ve been committed to offering an education that is hands-on, deeply personal, and grounded in faith — where students are known, families are partners, and learning feels alive.

Responsibility grows confidence.

Hands-on work, chores, and entrepreneurship build real-life skills and purpose.

Nature helps kids focus and flourish.

Outdoor learning boosts creativity, calm, and curiosity.

Faith shapes character.

A Christ-centered education builds purpose, values, and integrity.

Small schools make a big difference.

Personal attention and strong community help children thrive.

Our Mission

We provide a back-to-basics education that inspires students to explore God’s creation, develop a love for learning, and grow in faith—through outdoor education, hands-on experiences, and biblical discipleship.

Our Vision

The School House on the Ridge will support all students, in all areas - academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually - preparing them for lifelong learning and success.

A note from the Head of School

Meet Christy Klein – Founder & School Leader

After 16 years in public education—as a teacher, mentor, and leader—I’ve had the incredible privilege of walking alongside hundreds of students on their learning journeys. Through those years, I discovered a deep love for helping children grow—not just academically, but as whole people with curiosity, creativity, and character.

That’s why I started School House on the Ridge.

This school is a dream rooted in simplicity and purpose. In the mornings, we focus on building strong foundations in reading, writing, and math. In the afternoons, students head outside to explore science and agriculture through hands-on, real-world learning. It’s a balance of structure and freedom, of knowledge and wonder.

This school is being built quite literally from the ground up—starting in a small church space while we work toward our long-term dream of opening a one-room schoolhouse.

At the heart of it all is a deep belief in partnership with families. I want each child who walks through our doors to feel safe, supported, and inspired-both in the classroom and outdoors. My hope is that School House on the Ridge will be a place where learning feels meaningful, where children gain both confidence and skills, and where joy is woven into every part of the day.

If that sounds like the kind of school you’ve been looking for, I’d love to meet you.

Let’s grow something beautiful—together.
